Sunderland and PSV switch to new MU360
SGL, 12th February 2007

Both Sunderland A.F.C. and PSV Eindhoven were early adopters of the SGL Concept. Sunderland's Stadium of Light was the first stadium ever to use the SGL Concept and in Eindhoven it was the first time an entire pitch was treated with the SGL Concept.

A few years ago, Sunderland A.F.C. was the first club to be convinced of the possibilities of the SGL Concept. In the, how appropriate, Stadium of Light, a test system was used to prove that with the SGL Concept it is possible to have a summer quality pitch throughout the whole year.

Through the years many stadiums in the UK and the Netherlands have followed the example of Sunderland. Therefore SGL is delighted to announce that Sunderland A.F.C. has decided to continue and expand the SGL Concept, such that the whole pitch can be treated. In January the test system has been replaced by four brand new units MU360 and two units type MU18.

PSV

In 2004 the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven was first to treat the complete pitch with the mobile solution. Results at PSV were more than expected and PSV now has a high quality pitch year-round, which offers them football and commercially related benefits. PSV was assigned the 2006 UEFA Cup final and is now able to host pop concerts in summer, something which hadn't been possible in the past.

Although PSV was satisfied with the Mobile Units used so far, they have decided to switch to the latest version of the MU360, to fully benefit from the effects of the SGL Concept. 'Together with other SGL Projects, we as clients have been involved in the development of the new Mobile Unit', says Head Groundsman Harry van de Berk. 'Many of our suggestions have been implemented, which has resulted in this new unit. It is easier to work with and gives us more flexibility, because you can work underneath it, allowing us to maintain the pitch and continue treatment with the SGL Concept at the same time'. In January and February, a total of 9 units type MU360 and two units type MU18 will be installed.
