| Promising results at Millenium Stadium |
| SGL, 12th February 2007 |
Half January, only a few days after the new pitch had been brought in, two Mobile Units were installed at the Millennium Stadium. This stadium in Cardiff is known as one of the most prestigious, but also one of the darkest stadiums in Europe. The multifunctional use of the stadium requires a new pitch to be brought in every January. Because of the many events and matches in the stadium, the pitch has only a few weeks to root properly. These facts make the Millenium Stadium a very difficult environment to grow grass in.
Although it is yet to early to speak of a success, the first results at the Millennum Stadium are very promising. After only two weeks of treatment, the areas treated with the SGL Concept show a root growth that is seven times better than the untreated areas. Lee Evans, Head Groundsman at the Millennium Stadium, is delighted with the results: 'We have so little sunlight coming into the stadium that it is very hard to get the pitch in good shape. The first results of the SGL Concept are better than expected and within a few months we can tell if the SGL Concept can be a solution for the difficult growing conditions in the stadium'.
